In plain English

What it measures. A daily worldwide map showing where snow is on the ground, at about 375-meter detail.

How it's made. Built from the VIIRS instrument on the NOAA-21 satellite by stitching that day's snow-cover tiles into a single global map; only the snow-cover layer is carried over.

How & where you'd use it. Helpful for tracking seasonal snow, water supply from snowmelt, and winter conditions across large regions.

Official description

VJ210D1F is a daily global view of snow cover at 375 m resolution. This daily global product is produced by reprojecting the all the VJ110A1 product tiles for a day to a global geographic projection. Only the NDSI_Snow_Cover data layer from the VJ110A1 product is input to produce this global product.
