Lake water-surface temperature worldwide (Copernicus)
CLMS LSWT NRT Global 1km 10-daily V1
hydrosphere ESA ESA Copernicus active COGNetCDF
In plain English
What it measures. Measures how warm or cold the water is at the surface of lakes, refreshed every ten days for lakes around the world.
How it's made. Produced by ESA Copernicus from the Sentinel-3 SLSTR sensor at about 1-kilometer resolution, in near real time from 2016 to the present.
How & where you'd use it. Helps watch for warming lakes and harmful algal-bloom risk, supports freshwater ecosystem health checks, and tracks climate effects on inland waters.

Coverage & cadence
- Time span2016-06-01 → ongoing
- Spatial extent-180, -90, 180, 90
- FormatsCOG, NetCDF
What you can do with it
- Follow rainfall, floods and surface-water extent
- Track soil moisture and the onset of drought
- Monitor lakes, rivers and groundwater storage
Official description
Provides the temperature of the water at the lake surface. The near real time observations (every 10 days) are available at global scale at spatial resolution of approximately 1 km and with the temporal extent from 2016 to present, based on Sentinel-3/SLSTR data.
