Carbon captured by plants worldwide, ongoing 300m (Copernicus)

CLMS GPP Global 300m 10-daily V2
biosphere ESA ESA Copernicus active COGNetCDF
In plain English

What it measures. Measures the total carbon that plants fix through photosynthesis in an ecosystem, given in grams of carbon per square metre per day. It shows how much carbon vegetation is absorbing.

How it's made. Made by ESA Copernicus from the PROBA-V and Sentinel-3 OLCI instruments, refreshed every ten days at roughly 300-metre detail and near real time.

How & where you'd use it. Supports carbon-cycle and climate studies and ecosystem productivity monitoring. This continuing version runs from January 2014 to the present.

Official description

Defined as the total amount of carbon fixed by plants through photosynthesis in an ecosystem in a given period of time, expressed in gC/m²/day. Every 10-days estimates are available in near real time at global scale in the spatial resolution of about 300 m from January 2014 to the present.
