Airborne laser surface heights and waveforms (IceBridge)

IceBridge ATM L1B Elevation and Return Strength with Waveforms V001
cryosphere NASA NSIDC_CPRD Level 1B HDF5
In plain English

What it measures. Precise spot-by-spot surface elevations, along with the full shape of each returning laser pulse (waveforms), over sea ice and ice surfaces in the Arctic, Antarctic, and Greenland.

How it's made. Collected by NASA's Airborne Topographic Mapper, a laser instrument flown on research aircraft during Operation IceBridge campaigns.

How & where you'd use it. Used to measure ice surface height and roughness and to bridge gaps between satellite ice-monitoring missions.

Official description

This data set contains spot elevation measurements with corresponding waveforms of Arctic and Antarctic sea ice, and Greenland, Antarctic Peninsula, and West Antarctic region ice surface acquired using the NASA Airborne Topographic Mapper (ATM) instrumentation. The data were collected as part of Operation IceBridge funded aircraft survey campaigns.
