Reliability scores for main-crop planting dates (Copernicus)

CLMS VLCC Main Crop Emergence Confidence Layer (CPMCECL) Europe 10m yearly V1
biosphere ESA ESA Copernicus active
In plain English

What it measures. A companion quality layer estimating, in days, how uncertain the detected emergence (first-leaf) date of the main crop is. It exists only for annual cropland.

How it's made. Produced yearly from 2017 onward by the EU's Copernicus Land Monitoring Service as a 10-metre grid across Europe's 38 countries, including French overseas territories.

How & where you'd use it. A technical support file letting analysts see how dependable the main-crop emergence dates are before relying on them.

Official description

The Main Crop Emergence Confidence Layer (CPMCECL) is an ancillary dataset accompanying the CPMCE layer. It quantifies the uncertainty of the detected emergence date of the main annual crop, expressed in days (range: 1–40). The uncertainty is derived from the uncertainty of the satellite time series (fAPAR) at the identified emergence date. This layer is only generated for pixels classified as annual cropland. This dataset is provided annually starting with 2017 in 10-metre rasters (fully conformant with the EEA reference grid) in 100 × 100 km tiles covering the EEA-38 countries. The HRL Main Crop Emergence Confidence Layer product is part of the European Union's Copernicus Land Monitoring Service. This dataset includes data from the French Overseas Territories (DOMs).
