Reliability scores for main-crop season length (Copernicus)

CLMS VLCC Main Crop Duration Confidence Layer (CPMCDCL) Europe 10m yearly V1
biosphere ESA ESA Copernicus active
In plain English

What it measures. A companion quality layer estimating, in days, how uncertain the measured length of the main crop's growing season is. It exists only for fields classed as annual cropland.

How it's made. Produced yearly from 2017 onward by the EU's Copernicus Land Monitoring Service as a 10-metre grid across Europe's 38 countries, including French overseas territories.

How & where you'd use it. A technical support file that lets analysts judge how confident to be in the main-crop growing-season figures before using them.

Official description

The Main Crop Duration Confidence Layer (CPMCDCL) is an ancillary dataset accompanying the CPMCD layer. It quantifies the uncertainty of the detected duration of the main annual crop growing season, expressed in days (range: 1–80). The uncertainty is derived from the combined uncertainty of both the emergence and harvest date estimates. This layer is only generated for pixels classified as annual cropland. This dataset is provided annually starting with 2017 in 10-metre rasters (fully conformant with the EEA reference grid) in 100 × 100 km tiles covering the EEA-38 countries. The HRL Main Crop Duration Confidence Layer product is part of the European Union's Copernicus Land Monitoring Service. This dataset includes data from the French Overseas Territories (DOMs).
