Raw airborne camera photos of the ice (IceBridge)

IceBridge CAMBOT L1B Geolocated Images V002
land NASA NSIDC_CPRD Level 1B GeoTIFF
In plain English

What it measures. High-resolution aerial photographs of the ice surface over Antarctica and Greenland, each image tagged with its location on the ground.

How it's made. Captured by an airborne mapping camera system (CAMBOT) flown on research aircraft during NASA's Operation IceBridge campaigns; this is a raw, geolocated imagery product.

How & where you'd use it. A building-block input that provides a visual record of the ice, helping researchers interpret and check other ice measurements rather than serving as a finished analysis product.

What you can do with it

  • Track deforestation, fire scars and land-cover change
  • Monitor crop and vegetation health (NDVI/EVI)
  • Map how built-up vs. green an area is over time
Official description

This data set contains high-resolution imagery taken with the Continuous Airborne Mapping By Optical Translator (CAMBOT) system over Antarctica and Greenland. The data were collected as part of Operation IceBridge funded aircraft survey campaigns.
